Privacy policy

Last updated: September 28, 2026

This site is The Cottage Kitchen Table. This page explains what is collected when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. It is written in plain language on purpose.

What is collected

If you ask for a printable sheet: your email address, and your first name if you give it. That is all. It is stored with EmailOctopus, the service used to send it to you.

If you buy a book: the purchase is handled by Payhip or by Amazon. Your payment details go to them and never to this site. I do not see or store your card information at any point.

If you only read: this site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which recipes people find useful. It records things like which pages you looked at, roughly where in the world you are, what kind of device you used, which site sent you here, and whether you clicked a link out to Amazon or Payhip. It does not record your name, your email address, or anything you have not typed into a form here.

Google Analytics does this using cookies, and in places where consent is required, it is only switched on if you agree to it. More about that below.

How it is used

Your email address is used to send you the printable sheet you asked for, and occasional emails when a new sheet or a new book is ready. Nothing else. Your details are never sold, rented, or passed to anyone for marketing.

The visit statistics are used to decide what to write next. If a recipe is being read and printed, more like it get written. That is the entire purpose.

Cookies, and how to say no

Two kinds of cookie exist on this site, and they are not the same thing.

  • Necessary cookies make the site work. They keep pages loading quickly and let the buy buttons function. Without them parts of the site break, so they cannot be turned off.
  • Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics and only count visits. Nothing on the site stops working if you refuse them.

If you are somewhere that requires consent, such as the United Kingdom or the European Union, you will be asked before any analytics cookie is set, and nothing is set until you choose. Declining costs you nothing and changes nothing about how the site behaves.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser, which brings the question back on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies entirely in your browser settings, and the site will still work.

Where the information goes

This site is run from Kenya, hosted by Hostinger, and served through Cloudflare. The services below are based in the United States and elsewhere, which means information collected here may be processed outside your own country.

  • Google Analytics counts visits and records which links are clicked.
  • EmailOctopus stores the mailing list and sends the emails.
  • Payhip handles PDF sales and delivery.
  • Amazon sells the paperbacks. Following a link there means Amazon’s own privacy policy applies from that point.
  • Hostinger and Cloudflare host the site and keep it online and secure.

No advertising network is used on this site, and no profile about you is sold or shared with one.

Your choices

Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and one click removes you. You can also ask to see what information is held about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted entirely. Write to me and I will do it, and I will not ask you why.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
